Authors:

Mario Vaz is a professor of Physiology at St. John’s medical college, Bangalore. He received several awards for teaching. His research interests are in the evaluation of the functional consequences of altered nutritional states. His other interests are in the history of medicine and in humanities and health, a division of which he heads at the St. John’s research Institute.

Anura Kurpad  is a professor of Physiology at St John’s medical college, Bangalore. He was the founding Dean of St John’s Research institute, and an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota Medical School. His Interests are in metabolic and nutritional physiology, and he serves on the WHO expert Advisory panel on Nutrition.

Tony Raj is a professor of physiology at St, John’s medical college, Bangalore. He has been in the faculty from 1995. His research interests include using stable isotope techniques metabolic kinetic of amino acids in humans, studying insulin sensitivity using the glucose clamp technique and body composition measurements. He is the vice Dean of St, John’s research institute where he also heads the division of medical informatics. His other interests are in using innovative and low cost information technology to provide more efficient care for patients in resource constrained setting.
